Big upgrades continue to happen at SRMC! Our Radiology Department is redefining imaging excellence through the purchase of a new MRI scanner, called Siemens MAGNETOM Altea 1.5 Tesla MRI Scanner. While patients are still required to hold still during scans, the new scanner will be more comfortable and allow greater flexibility for different positioning options. Many of the scans will be faster with higher resolution imaging and clearer quality to guarantee accurate results in a timely manner. Faster scans boost workflow efficiency while improving the patient experience.
The new scanner will also provide higher temporal resolution and will provide improved joint and spine imaging for people with specific orthopedic implants. Additionally, Radiology will be able to offer a wider variety of MRI exams, including prostate exams and select breast exams.
